PBA Bounty Small red lentil
PBA Bounty is the highest yielding small round seeded red lentil variety. PBA Bounty is suited to all current lentil areas where it has consistently yielded around 5% higher than Nugget and 6 to 15% higher than Nipper. It can be grown in higher rainfall areas provided BGM is managed. PBA Bounty is particularly suited to growers who can benefit from the higher prices that can exist for small seeded red lentil without compromising yield compared to medium red lentils. Seed of PBA Bounty is 10% larger than Nipper and Northfield but is likely to be exported to similar small red lentil markets.
PBA Bounty is protected under Plant Breeder’s Rights (PBR) legislation. An End Point Royalty of $5.50/t (including GST) applies to this variety.
PBA Flash Medium red lentil
PBA Flash is suited to all current lentil areas but particularly shorter-season areas where its high yield and earlier maturity improves reliability of yield, especially in lower yielding situations. It is the highest yielding lentil variety (4-10% higher than Nugget across Australian lentil growing regions). It is also better option than Nugget for early sowing dates and higher rainfall areas provided Botrytis Grey Mould is managed. Earlier maturity makes PBA Flash the best variety for timely crop topping and it’s well suited to no-till, inter-row sowing into standing residue. PBA Flash is likely to be exported to medium red lentil markets, similar to Nugget.
